Senior Full-Stack Developer

Launched in 2018, Workfinder is an award-winning UK-based service endorsed by industry, academia and government, including Barclays, the CBI, the FSB, The Cabinet Office, Wayra, Grant Thornton, and the City of London.

Our mission is for Workfinder to become the universal platform that 16-24 year-olds use to connect with work placements in their local community, so to make better-informed decisions about permanent roles, drive down the costs of job switching and boost productivity in communities that need it most.

Building on 3 years of R&D and in the face of exploding demand, we are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Developer with relevant experience to help us drive forward the next phase of growth:- to scale-up our platform based on best practice and roll-out globally. We are growing at pace with high-profile partnerships, within an ecosystem of students, educators, business and government, so need someone with the determination and know-how to support future success.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic with strong analytical and problem solving skills, communication skills and have excellent attention to detail.

The Role

Workfinder is a new company, formed to scale a product originally developed by Founders4Schools (F4S). F4S, a charity set up in 2013, has helped to connect hundreds of thousands of 6-18 year old UK students with thousands of professionals through a wide range of student-employer encounters - inspiring young people and helping them understand the connection between their studies and their future working life.

In 2017, F4S began to develop Workfinder, an iOS and web-app service that puts young people ages 16-24 in control of the search for work experience, enabling them to locate and apply to local businesses in their areas of interest.

Workfinder is now becoming a separate entity, and we are growing the development team to help scale our platform. Until now Workfinder has been in prototyping, so the Founders4Schools and Workfinder platforms are linked, and we need to separate them to allow both to flourish to their full potential. You will join a team of 2 other FSDs and 2 FE developers responsible for making the separation happen, building a Workfinder platform that can support our future growth, and supporting F4S through the transition

We are a small but growing team of passionate developers who love to create scalable, thoughtful solutions, not band-aids. We encourage and expect our teammates to pitch big ideas and collaborate to solve complex problems.

Life with us

While most of the wider team is based in London, half of our development team is based in Cambridge - this includes all of our Full Stack team. They travel to London weekly and the London team visits Cambridge too, so you are welcome to call either home. We are also very supportive of a blended home/office working schedule for all team members.

We believe that well being is directly related to cognitive performance, so we support and encourage planning your work schedule to meet your needs as well as those of the organisation. Our locations at Rocketspace (Angel) in London and Cambridge Science Park offer opportunities to escape the keyboard.

In London you can take a break in the sleep room, vault (yes the eatery is in a bank vault!), at the pool table, theatre, or step out into bustling North London.

The Bradfield Centre in Cambridge’s Science Park offers a relaxing and flexible working environment, with plenty of natural light, auditorium, eatery, and small lake for you to escape to with or without your laptop. The Cambridge team can often be found at the pool and on running or bike paths nearby.
